Poachers

I like Poachers overall. It has its problems in the form of a BOTW but we'll ignore her and things will be good.
It opens with the guys, Jim, Simon and Blair, trout fishing. They all look pretty spiffy in their gear. Jim is wearing a blue plaid shirt, his Jags cap, waders and a fishing vest. Blair is wearing a green t-shirt under his fishing vest, a cute battered hat with snaps on the side and waders. Simon is dressed the same. This scene is adorable because Jim calls Blair "my little guppy". Talk about giving me goose bumps. Jim is teaching Blair how to fly fish. Yeah, right. LOL!
Two bad guys are peaking from the bushes. They call somebody on their cell phone. These two hunters are poaching and the buyers want bear parts. Oh, goodie. The two men break up to search for game. Back at the river, Jim is impressed at how good Blair is at fishing and he proceeds to catch a nice one. Good scene where Blair is all excited. Jim coaches while Simon encourages. They pull out a nice fish and take Blair's pic. The funny thing is that Blair is ready to eat the fish but Jim releases his catch. Blair is surprised but gets in with the groove about catch and release. Nice scene.
The hunter is looking for a bear when the bear finds him, and proceeds to eat him. Even though he has a big gun, the bear wins. Jim and company hear the automatic weapon discharge so Jim follows the sounds with Blair and Simon at his heels. When they get there, the hunter is dead and they realize that he was a poacher. Over the two way radio, the hunter's partner calls for his buddy but sees Jim, Blair and Simon through binoculars. Jim tries to jump on the hunter's truck but he falls off, and the bad guy gets away.
Back in Simon's office, we find out that the two hunters, Jake (dead guy) and Sid run a hunting camp. Blair is wearing a nice olive green button-up shirt and jeans. Jim is wearing a pretty royal blue shirt that looks very good on him and ugly grey pants.
Back at the hunt camp, Sid is taking off now that the law is on him. I love how Jim and Blair are hiding in the bushes. Blair is watching through binoculars and tries to pass them to Jim, who says, "I've got it covered." Sometimes Blair is just too funny. The guys have on the same clothes, but Jim's added a beige jacket. Two new people show up, a man and woman. They try to buy animal parts from old Sid, and are nicely busted by our heroes. I love the cocky way Jim smirks when the woman pitches a fit about being arrested. Oh, we find out Jim's badge number is 733, and he likes roses.
We also find out animal parts makes Jim sneeze, poor baby. Blair now wants to do allergy testing. Good Blair. We then discover that the guy and gal are game wardens with Fish and Wildlife. Nice shot of Blair looking darned adorable and Jim looking itchy-eyed.
Since the deal went bust, Jim talks the agents into working together. They're all going to work together to catch a high level Asian gangster who is involved in drugs, arms smuggling and poaching, among other things. I love that Simon sends the quartet off to work out details. They all decide to go to work their separate ways and catch up later to compare notes. Yeah, right.
Jim and Blair go back out to Sid's hunt camp to scope out the place. I love the scene when they're walking toward the camera, chatting about the woman, Elaine. Blair says he thinks that Jim's attracted to her. Jim claims he's repelled. Of course, there's an Asian bad guy with a big gun who starts shooting. Jim wins the stand-off so now we know the Asian connection is a good one, and they discover the pipeline to Asian, a Chinese herb store.
The group end up back at the loft to set up their first contact. I like that Jim is cooking for the group in his flowered apron. Jim is very domestic, I do believe. In another cute scene, after Jim finds out that the sting involves a purported aphrodisiac, Jim tells Rafferty (the male agent) to keep it away from "the kid", meaning Blair or he might field test it. Jim is such a comedian.
Jim is fixing spaghetti sauce. I love when Blair goes over to talk to Jim, that he practically stands on Jim's toes. So the bait is taken and the first contact is moving forward. Jim and Elaine go in as a team. I'm not going into a lot of detail because Jim is with ditzy woman instead of Blair. And why is it whenever the police use an "undetectable" tracking device, the bad guys always detect it? This has happened several times already. I do like that Rafferty and Blair are using the Volvo as a chase vehicle. Go, Blair!
Jim looks very good in sports coat,
dark shirt and slacks. Nice and spiffy. The bad guys like the
merchandise, and now Jim has Elaine as a "wife". Oh,
goodie. And Elaine has taken a bugging device into the meet without
telling Jim, who was irritated
that she didn't consult with him. They have a bit of a tiff,
where Elaine wants to know what the police are supplying in this new
partnership. She mouths off that the Feds
have supplied the informants and the bait, so she asks Jim what he's
supplied. He answers, "Brains." Man, is she pissed. Bye
bye, Elaine. Oh, and Blair has on a blue shirt in this quick scene.
And the newest bad guy is Tommy Wu.
Jim and Elaine arrange to meet Wu. Jim is wearing a nice burgundy long-sleeved shirt and a long, dark coat that I really like, along with some dark slacks. Blair has on his beige coat with the dark collar, jeans and a blue t-shirt. The surveillance team is keeping watch from the docks while the boat that Jim and Elaine are on sail away. Now they have no way to track them, and with instructions to sail north until they're contacted. Not happy, Simon lets Rafferty and Blair take the merchandise and sail north.
Jim, Elaine and Tommy have dinner together, sharing pleasant chit-chat about the philosophy of war. We do find out that Jim is a very well read man. Smart Jim! It's nice that Tommy and Jim like each other, because it helps later on in the episode. Actually Tommy is a nice, good looking guy, so we like him as planned. Back on the other boat, Blair wants to keep in touch with Simon, but Rafferty talks him out of it for some strange reason. Wonder why...
Jim and Elaine are given a small cabin together. Jim nicely gives Elaine the bed but she insists they flip. She loses and has to sleep on the floor. In a big surprise, Rafferty turns out to be a bad guy. He pulls a gun on Blair and plans to steal the goods. Our hero Blair is a smart one. He guns the engine and tosses Rafferty over, grabs his gun, and drops him off in the middle of the water on a rock. Smart Blair! BTW, this is a small boat and they've motored along for hours. I assume they brought fuel because there is no way they had enough fuel to last this long. Oh, and Blair tells Rafferty he's shot more men than John Wesley Harding. LOL! Good Blair! (As a point of interest, John Wesley Hardin (proper spelling) was really a nasty guy who killed over 30 people back in the old west.)
The story moves along. Blair brings the goods to meet up with the boat that Jim is on. While they're making arrangements to sell the goods, another boat appears and the big wig himself, Ho Ng who knows that Jim is a cop, Blair is his partner, and that Elaine and Rafferty are feds. Oops. Ho Ng wants to kill them all, but Tommy doesn't want to. Ho Ng is setting up Tommy also. Our little group is tied up in the cargo hold. I wonder why the bad guys just didn't plug them all immediately and toss their bodies into the water. Even Blair wonders why!
Oh, cool. Jim has a knife in his boot! This is a first. Good Jim. Hey, don't whine at me. It's in the script! Elaine fishes out the knife and cuts the ropes while Blair gives a talk on environmental problems to Tommy. Jim finally uses his senses to hear the bad guys setting mines to blow the ship. Our heroes spring into action and start an assault on the bad guys. There is an awful jet ski chase, if you can believe that, and in the end the bad guys are caught (of course). Blair looks great, BTW. I love him brandishing that gun. Go, Blair! And Jim looks good all nice and wet.
The tag is okay, I guess. Jim is wearing a nice blue plaid shirt and dark pants. Blair has on a white t-shirt with a picture on the back that I can't quite see (it looks like a lake with a guy fishing, which would make sense.) and khakis. Jim makes plans to go camping with Elaine. The best thing about this tag is that Jim and Blair leave the bull pen with their arms around each other. Well, they do! It's very sweet.
Next episode is Inside Man.
