Secret
This episode is called Secret. We find out exactly what happened to Jim
and his team when they were stranded in Peru, and some interesting
facts about Jim's Sentinel abilities. The plot is quite complicated for
TS. Plenty of story spoilers and comments on Blair and Jim's appealing
physical attributes.
Secret opens with a very nice scene in the loft. Our boys are getting
ready to go fishing, something they do a few times during the series.
Jim is wearing a dark brown, black and gray plaid shirt over a dark
blue t-shirt and brown slacks. I like that he is not clean-shaven,
something that he hardly ever see from him. Blair is wearing a
long-sleeved burgundy t-shirt and jeans. Blair comes from his room with
this tribal fishing spear. Jim has a good laugh over it and tells him
to fish away from him because the fish will be too busy laughing at
Blair. Jim also calls Blair "Hiawatha".
Jim goes to pick up a piece of equipment when he mentions that his
shoulder is killing him. Blair is all concerned and Jim tells Blair
that he's tried liniments, muscle relaxers and painkillers, and nothing
is bringing relief. I find that Jim says he used all these medications
quite interesting after his debacle with the cold medicine. Blair is
very concerned and launches into a lecture about what if Jim might need
anesthetics for surgery or dental work. Of course, Jim refuses to any
experiments on pain and tells Blair to experiment on himself. Can
anyone say, plot bunnies? They're hopping all over the place in this
episode.
Anyway, the phone rings and it's one of Jim's old army buddies asking
for help. Jim leaves after telling Blair he'll be right back. Hours
later, no Jim. Blair calls the precinct and asks Simon for help. Simon,
of course, tells Blair that Jim's probably out having a few beers and
doesn't have to check in with him. Simon finally believes Blair when he
hears the sounds of gunfire over the phone.
Seems that our Jimmy went to meet his buddy, Sam, and some bad guys
appeared. They shot Sam and his car went over the edge of the fifth
floor-parking garage and Jim was tranquilized and kidnapped. When the
bad guys checked out Jim's wallet, they got his home address and went
over to sweep the place, finding Blair, who managed to get away from
the bad guys.
Blair is wearing a brown suede jacket in these scenes. He gets out to
the street and manages to catch a bus, but he doesn't have the correct
change. After some begging, the bus driver lets him on but you can tell
the driver doesn't like the look of the longhaired, ear-ringed guy at
all. I like Blair looking all harried and his hair is messy. Blair
tries to ask the other passengers for a cell phone but the bus driver
gets irritated and yells at him to sit down. Luckily the bus driver
calls the police and reports an unruly passenger because at the next
stop, two of the bad guys get on the bus and eyeball Blair. The cops
show up and Blair gets arrested after insulting them by calling them
pigs.
Simon and Joel are at the loft inspecting the destruction. An APB has
been put out on both Jim and Blair, and guess where they find Blair? In
jail, of course. In a very cute scene, Blair is begging to be let out
of jail with some rough looking guy standing about a foot away from him
giving him the eye. I can't decide if the guy wants to kiss him or
punch him out. Simon springs Blair from the slammer and they find out
Jim's truck has been found and also a dead guy in the smashed car. In a
very good shot, Blair asks if the dead guy is Jim. He is told no and is
very relieved.
The next scene opens with a shot of Jim unconscious on the floor of
some warehouse. He wakes up and there is a woman in the room locked
behind a chain link fence enclosure. He manages to get up and talks to
her.
She acts all scared and he calms her down and they start to talk,
telling each other their stories. Jim picks the lock on her cage using
his hearing and releases her. She takes off his belt (no, not for that,
silly) and uses it with the lock on the end to break this light bulb
and cut Jim's hands free. (He's tied with those plastic thingies .)
They tell each other about getting kidnapped
and manage to escape the room they are being held in.
Meanwhile, Simon has put Blair under protective custody since he is a
witness and someone is trying to kill him. Joel and Blair go back to
the loft and Blair is cleaning up the mess when he finds a picture of
Jim's old Ranger unit. This helps Blair figure out who the dead guy is
and he calls Simon, who has also been notified of the dead man's
identity. Simon is having a fit because the FBI has showed up and is
trying to take over the case. The inspector has taken the body of Jim's
friend, Sam, and insists on jurisdiction without telling Simon any of
the details.
Blair is busy figuring out what is going on and he calls Jack Kelso,
his old buddy, because he suspects Covert Ops is up to something. Blair
arranges to meet with Jack and he gives Joel the slip. Blair meets with
Jack over at Rainier University. Blair is wearing his red and gray
plaid coat in this scene. The bad guys are following, of course, and
they try to kill both Blair and Jack. After the bullets stop flying,
Jack is shot in the neck.
When the same FBI agent, Cameron, shows up at the hospital to take
Kelso, Simon refuses and insists on a court order. Simon is getting
suspicious about the whole thing and he and Blair go to Kelso's office
and get into his computer to retrieve the files, only to find out that
someone has already hacked in and destroyed them. They take a disk
hoping that some information is left. In a very cute scene, Simon is
browbeating Serena to do her job and get the information from the
damaged disk. Blair sweet talks Serena into helping them and then he
launches into a discussion with Simon about the way he handles his
people. Simon is not happy, telling Blair he doesn't have time for
popularity contests. They also discover along the way that Agent
Cameron is actually Colonel Oliver.
The main plot that is uncovered is a bit complicated so I'm just going
to spill it now. Sam Holland, Jim's friend, was working for a company
in Florida that is a CIA front run by Colonel Oliver, who was Jim's
C.O. back in Covert Ops. Jim always blamed Oliver for the screw up in
Peru that stranded Jim's team and got all of them but Jim killed.
They've hated each other ever since because Jim let it be known that
Oliver screwed up. Sam sees a file on Oliver's desk that relates to an
undercover DEA agent, Ben Chavez. The next day or so, Ben Chavez's
cover is blown and he has to come in from the cold or get killed. He is
going to spill the names of the CIA rogue agents who are working
against their government and with the drug cartel. Sam realizes that
Oliver has blown Chavez's cover and that Oliver is a rogue agent. He
was going to tell Jim but he's killed first. Oliver is an expert sniper
and he's going to take out Chavez before he turns in Oliver and his
team. Oliver is going to set up Jim for the kill and going to let it be
known that Jim was with the bad guys all along.
Back to the warehouse. Jim and the girl try to escape and just when
they make it to the elevator, the girl turns and whacks Jim a good one.
She's in with Oliver and was trying to get information from Jim to see
how much Sam hold Jim, which actually wasn't anything because Oliver's
men killed him before he could talk. Oliver comes in, and Jim and he
have a bit of a discussion on just what happened. BTW, Jim had picked
up a nail from the floor and hides it. First he tried to pick the
handcuffs but doesn't have enough time before Oliver came in and they
talked, then he injects him with some knockout drug. Jim uses the nail
to press into his finger causing pain and thereby minimizing the
effects of the drug. He fakes being unconscious. Another very useful
Sentinel ability Jim discovers.
Oliver then goes to the roof and sets up for the kill of the DEA agent.
Simon, Joel and Blair have figured out where the hit is going to be
from some evidence they managed to get from one of Oliver's men when
the man made another attempt to kill Blair and failed. The scenes are:
Oliver is waiting to kill the DEA agent, our guys are fast approaching
the location, and Jim has managed to find his way onto the roof where
Oliver is. Jim's vision is acting up from the drug and he sees Oliver
in and out of blurry vision, ordering him to stand down. He tells us
that he now knows why he survived the jungle, and we realize that was
for retribution for the lost lives of his men because of Oliver. Jim's
team was set up purposefully to be killed as cover for Oliver's part in
the cartel drug operation. Jim draws on Oliver and hits him in the
shoulder, but Oliver falls over the side of the building and dies.
I like the scene when Simon arrives and drags Oliver's girlfriend from
the car demanding the location of his missing detective. Blair yells at
Simon and Simon's eyes follow Blair's and there, at the top of the
building, stands our Sentinel. Jim is all enthusiastic about being
rescued. He manages to raise one lone finger in thanks to his friends.
Not even a smile, but Blair and Simon are grinning like fools. Really,
though, I'd think Jim was about comatose by the time they get to him
with the drugs that he has in his system.
The tag is pretty cute. Blair is wearing a red collared shirt and blue
jeans and perched on the edge of Jim's desk, looking exceedingly
yummie. Jim has on his dark green cable knit sweater and he looks
handsome as always. Joel tells Jim that he's needed back at the federal
building for more statements and then he makes a comment about what a
good team Simon and Blair made. I like that Jim asks Simon if he should
look for a new partner. I haven't been counting the times Jim calls
Blair his partner, but it is quite a few. Anyway, Blair says, no! And
so does Simon. Blair is telling Jim how Simon finally found a bit of
finesse in his police work and Simon gets a bit hot under the collar.
Blair makes the mistake of calling the Captain, Simon. I love that
Simon towers over Blair and yells, It's Captain Banks to you!
Meanwhile, Jim is just watching from across the room having a good
laugh at the two "ladies" as Jim called them, still arguing.
There it is, Secret. Oh, next we have Dead Drop! Goodie, one of my
favs.
