The Debt

This episode is on my list of the five worst TS episodes. Not because it is squicky or bad, it is just plain boring. But as in all TS episodes, there are some very good scenes. Jim hardly uses his senses, and he and Blair are apart most of the episode, so it is not very good, in my opinion. So here goes. Again, lots of spoilers and useless TS musings.

The first scene in this episode makes it worth watching and fast forwarding through the boring parts. The very first shot is of Blair sitting and writing notes, talking to Larry, the ape. Blair looks exceedingly attractive in his glasses, trying to understand why Larry likes violence on tv. Jim shows up and meets Larry. Jim brings along a video camera for Blair to use to film his project. I wonder what happened to the video camera Blair had in The Switchman. It must have been blown up in the bus explosion.

Anyway, Jim, Larry and Blair are sitting on the sofa, eating popcorn. Jim feeding Larry is absolutely precious. Jim is so sweet. Love the banter about the beer. Jim wants one but wants Blair to fetch it. Blair has other ideas. Jim gets up to get the beer and hears something. Pretty soon Blair's warehouse living accommodations are blown to bits.

Cut to exceedingly wonderful scene when Blair begs Jim to let him and Larry stay for the duration of "just one week". Well, we know better, but Jim seems quite easy to convince and says yes. He doesn't look irritated. He looks pleased. Now Blair will be close to him. Oh, and Jim says no while he's touching Blair. Yeah, right. Jim is some tough guy.

The next scene I like is Jim coming home and the loft is trashed. He pulls his gun, expecting some psycho to be lurking, but it's only Blair. I love the sweater Blair is wearing. It is a striped thing which is long and shows off his hips nicely. BTW, Larry has run away from home.

Then we have the extremely slashy breakfast scene. Jim says something about not falling for the "courtship ritual". Jim has no idea now hard he is falling, but I digress. Blair cooks breakfast for his Sentinel. Love when they sit across from each other and talk. Blair goes into one of his anthro lectures about tribal cultures. Jim listens and agrees, but says he's going to stop the trouble instead of letting it escalate. Both guys looks very yummie eating and talking. I love the domestic scenes.

Well, the boring story goes on about some cop and a gang and who steals guns and who is set up. Yawn. Blair goes to Grandma's place to protect her. He looks absolutely awful in that ugly brown plaid jacket and that hideous flowered tie. But he does make it up by pulling his hair back and putting those glasses on. Jim keeps a close eye on him from down the street and when Grandma refuses to leave, Jim tries to pull our Blair out, but he refuses, and the smart guy organizes an apartment protection gang with the other residents. They manage to stand off the bad punks later on.

Oh, and Jim does lean up agains the wall in one scene waiting for the other cop. He looks great standing there. I have a thing about guys leaning on walls with one foot propped up.

Then we are forced to endure a horrible chase scene with Jim's stunt double on the roof of the car. Thank heavens for fast forward. At least they could have cut the stuntman from the scenes. Any amateur with a video camera and a computer would have cut it better.

Then we have the cute final scene in Jim's truck when he tells Blair that the troublemaking Larry is back in the loft and trashing the place again. He gives Blair 30 minutes before he sends in the SWAT team to deal with Larry. For a guy who is supposed to be a bit angry, he looks like he's trying not to laugh. Blair is sweet, asking what was Larry doing, and Jim tells him he's watching TV. Blair muses which show. Very nice exchange.

Sorry this one was to short, but even writing the review was boring!!! LOL!

The End.
